Family to Family Connection is a nonprofit organization that serves families with children from birth to age four and helps provide parents and caretakers with the tools to provide a safe and nurturing environment for their children through parent education and community networking. The program provides educational and emotional support that empowers parents and helps them become the best parents they can be. The end result is healthy, confident children leading to a stronger community.
Dear Parents,
Everyone is very pleased with our new location. We are resuming our Tuesday morning Explore and Learn classes with Nevada Early Intervention and have a new partnership with Positively Kids, another early intervention program, with Monday morning classes. In addition, we have Wednesday afternoon classes at Nevada Easter Seals, on Oakey near Jones, hoping to continue services to our former neighbors. Thursday mornings, we will have developmental activities at the Boys and Girls Club, on Lindell.
In September, on the 26th, we have a Family Game Night scheduled. We will have a few different games for you to enjoy with your family and other families you have met or will meet at Family to Family Connection.
Suzy is available for Breastfeeding support, by appointment. In addition, Dianne is offering counseling for parents, needing private time to discuss issues pertinent to family development. On September 19th, there is an adults-only, evening discussion group, “How is my parenting affected by how I was parented?”
There is a lot of new research on the subject of building stronger families. We found a valuable tool in the form of a self-assessment. We are having a focus group, comprised of staff, some board members and families to review the questions on this assessment and plan for improvement. The focus group is soon, August 28th at 1pm. Call to register, 870-9583. If you wish to have the form ahead of the meeting, you can pick it up, or we can email it to you. Please, take the time to participate, since your opinion matters.
Friday, the 21st of September, is Family to Family Connection, Open House, Birthday Party, Family Reunion Picnic. We are celebrating our New Location, our 14th Birthday and Your Family. Between 3-6pm, we will be cooking hot dogs, serving beverages and have activities in the parking lot. We hope families who attended our classes in the past will also join the celebration. Please tell your friends, call to register 870-9583, bring a chair and a side dish to share.
